Earlier in March, the MDHS Reach For The Top teams traveled to Stratford for one final battle of wits and trivia against the other teams in AMDSB.
The intermediate Reach team had a stellar season and went into the competition tied with Listowel. After a heartbreaking loss in the tiebreaker to St. Mike’s they pulled out a come from behind win against Northwestern to secure their spot in the final playoff game against Listowel. The game was a nail biter for a while keeping the game neck in neck, but with a strong showing in the third round the Blue Devils pulled ahead to take the division championship with a 250-160 win.
The intermediate squad consists of Katheryn Kolkman, who never failed to astound the competition with her mental mathematics gymnastics;Porter Feltz, who’s knowledge of comic books and super heroes helped to save the day in the final game;Sam Louwagie, who is king of the random guess and all things mythology and history related; a fourth member, picks up the slack in all categories with his general knowledge and ability to spell every word in the dictionary.
The senior team, meanwhile, had struggled to find their mark all year, but finished strong with one win and one loss to cap the season. The win was especially sweet since it was against St. Mike’s where the Blue Devils more than doubled their score.
Congratulations on a terrific season of trivia!
